The digital refractometer SmartRef measures the refractive index of liquids.
This value is a dimensionless number that describes how light propagates through a medium. It is dependent on the temperature and wavelength of light.
The refractive index of a dissolved substance in a solvent correlates with its concentration and can, therefore, be used for concentration measurements. Many other scales can be derived from this value.
SmartRef measures the sample's temperature right at the sample area in addition to the refractive index. You operate and control the device via the mobile app running on your smartphone. For the communication between the device and your smartphone, Bluetooth Low Energy is used. Via the app, various measurement units based on the refractive index can be calculated (e.g. °Brix).
