A temperature coefficient describes the relative change in density per degree of temperature change. It is sample specific. The temperature coefficient alpha [g/cm3/K] in EasyDens is needed for the calculation of Specific Gravity and Baumé which are compensated at a certain temperature. In the Brew Meister and Wine Meister app a general temperature coefficient alpha for Beer/Wine is already preset.
For an even more precise measurement of your specific samples, you can now set the temperature coefficient alpha for your samples yourself. Simply measure your sample at a temperature at the upper limit of the temperature range (e.g.: 28 °C) and then measure your sample at the lower limit of the temperature range (e.g.: 7 °C). Then you can calculate the temperature coefficient alpha according to the equation below and set it in the Brew Meister/Wine Meister app.
ρ1… density at temperature T1
ρ2… density at temperature T2
Preset temperature coefficient alpha:
Beer: 0.000330
Wine: 0.000275
