A temperature coefficient describes the relative change in density per degree of temperature change. It is sample specific. The temperature coefficient alpha [g/cm3/K] in EasyDens is needed for the calculation of Specific Gravity and Baumé which are compensated at a certain temperature. In the Brew Meister and Wine Meister app a general temperature coefficient alpha for Beer/Wine is already preset.
For an even more precise measurement of your specific samples, you can set the temperature coefficient alpha for your samples yourself. Simply measure your sample at a temperature at the upper limit of the temperature range (e.g.: 28 °C) and then measure your sample at the lower limit of the temperature range (e.g.: 7 °C). Then you can calculate the temperature coefficient alpha according to the equation below and set it in the Brew Meister/Wine Meister app.
ρ1… density at temperature T1
ρ2… density at temperature T2
Preset temperature coefficient alpha:
Beer: 0.000330
Wine: 0.000275
