Determine the estimated alcohol content with EasyDens during fermentation
To determine the estimated alcohol content during and after fermentation you can use EasyDens. Measure the original gravity (OG) and the final gravity (FG) during your fermentation. Once these values are saved and selected in the batch, the alcohol calculation is done automatically for you in the app.
Important to know:
If sugar is added during fermentation the estimated alcohol content will be incorrect as OG is no longer valid. In this case we recommend measuring the alcohol content with the EasyDens and SmartRef combo.

Determine the potential alcohol content with SmartRef after measuring your grapes
To estimate the potential alcohol content of the finished wine you can measure the Potential Alcohol Brix or Potential Alcohol Oe of your grapes with the SmartRef.

Measure the alcohol content of finished wine with EasyDens and SmartRef Combo
If you have the EasyDens and SmartRef Combo, original gravity (OG) and final gravity (FG) measurements are not required. By combining EasyDens (density measurement) and SmartRef (refractive index measurement), the ABV of finished wine can be directly determined with an accuracy of ± 0.5 %v/v (for standard wine samples between 1 to 15 %v/v) and an accuracy of ± 1 %v/v (for wine samples below 1 %v/v or above 15 %v/v).
