With the combination of EasyDens and SmartRef it is possible to measure alcohol in finished beer without measuring original gravity (OG) and final gravity (FG) or your brew.
Carrying out the measurement step by step:
- Degas and filter your beer sample.
- Fill a syringe with your beer sample without any air bubbles.
- First, fill the sample well of SmartRef bubble free up to the rim with your beer sample.
- Second, fill the glass tube of EasyDens bubble free with the same beer sample.
TIP: Make sure that the sample temperature does not differ too much from the ambient temperature. Avoid measuring samples directly from the refrigerator.
- Switch on EasyDens and SmartRef.
- Open the Brew Meister app and create a new batch via 'Batches' in the bar below to save your measurement results.
- Tap on ‘Measure’ in the bar below to get back to the measurement screen.
- Choose the ABV measurement by tapping ‘Measure ABV’.
- A new screen opens. Connect the EasyDens and SmartRef to the Brew Meister app by tapping on the highlighted ‘Tap to connect’ button.
- Once both devices are successfully connected, tap on the button ’for Beer‘ and select the appropriate sample.
You can choose between 3 different formulas for alcohol calculation:
Beer (10.9 - 15.9 °P; 1.044 - 1.065 SG), Strong Beer (> 15.9 °P; > 1.065 SG) and Kombucha.
TIP: Select the appropriate sample to use the correct formula for alcohol calculation.
- Start the alcohol measurement by tapping the button ’ABV Measurement’.
- The alcohol by volume value is displayed within a few seconds with an accuracy of ± 0.5 %v/v. This value is temperature compensated to 20 °C.
- To see all measurement data on your measurement screen (Original Gravity, Real Extract, Final Gravity, Density and Refractive Index), swipe up on the screen.
- Save your measurement in your batch.
